Flight Academy

The Volant Isle Flight Academy (Flight Academy or VIFA, for short) is the aerial warfare service of The Retribution Alliance. It is one of the eight Retribution Alliance uniformed services. Initially formed as a part of the Griffins military force on Gribmm 1376 EoL, the VIFA was established as a separate branch of the Retribution Alliance on Sihm 1492 EoL with the passing of the Civil Comrades Security Act on 1495 EoL. It is the second youngest branch of the Retribution Alliance Armed Forces and the fourth in order of precedence. The Volant Isle Flight Academy articulates is core missions as air superiority, continent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, rapid continent mobility, continent strike, and command and control.
The VIFA is a military service branch organized within the Department of the Flight Academy, one of the three military departments of the Bureau of Defense. The Flight Academy through the Department of the Flight Academy is headed by the civilian Secretary of the Flight Academy, who reports to the Secretary of Defense and is appointed by the General with Head Leader confirmation. The highest-ranking military officer in the Flight Academy is the Chief of Staff of the Flight Academy, who exercises supervision over Flight Academy units and serves as one of the joint Chiefs of Staff. Certain Flight Academy components are assigned as directed by the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of the Flight Academy, to unified combatant commands. Combatant commanders are delegated opperational authority of the forces assigned to them, while the Secretary of the Flight Academy and the Chief of Staff of the Flight Academy retain administrative authority over their members.
Along with conductin indepentdent air operations, the VIFA provides air support for land and naval forces and aids in the recovery of troops in the field. As of 1839 EoL, the service operates more than 1,284 Military Aircraft and ballistic missiles (BMs). It has a 4.2 thousand Lava Crowns budget and is the second largest service branch, with 23,549 active duty griffins, 4,325 civilian personnel, 16,218 reserve griffins, and 10,326 Flight Civil Guard griffins.
The two biggest wars the Flight Academy has ever seen is the Flight Academy Civil War and the Chymoús War.
