The Discarded
The slums of major city and town in the Itude Empire were designed specifically for Exotic Pets that could no longer function properly, yet the owners were unable to pay a butcher to slaughter them for their blood and their meat to used as food. Death and starvation are common as well as living in decrepit houses in the snowy, frozen land of the Northern Narrows.
Another day has come 'n gone, I suppose. 'N it ain't nothin' special. If we can just get food on dah table, we're good.
Values
While surviving under the harsh conditions of the slums, Exotic Pets band together to keep food on the table. Rations are as important as breathing air is to stay alive. They have once-a-week gatherings for handing out rations while checking upon the sick, wounded, and elderly. The healthier discarded have a rule about no person left behind, never turning on a fellow discarded, no matter who or what stands in their way.History
The slums first started appearing around 1854 EoL where any Exotic Pets that were damaged and unable to be used, but still good for "very, very minor work" were left to rot here. The homes were nothing but shacks with minimal warmth and no glass for the windows. Over time, some of the discarded were able to scrounge up materials to make glass panes. The window panes are the only thing that has improved various discarded homes by one percent.Conception
The discarded all contain many backgrounds, that each city and town has a different culture revolving around them, even if their values are pretty similar. Some have managed to gain the sight of the dukes, earls, and other nobility guarding cities and towns as though the discarded might not be as useless as they seem. They certainly make for good comic relief for those passing by as the discarded struggle to survive.
