The Poison of Garlic

For centuries, the werewolves have seen vampires as suppressors in the world. It only changed when werewolves discovered that vampires were allergic to garlic. From then on, the werewolves would grow massive fields of garlic. In the Winter Plains, these harvests are essential staples for the economy as hundreds of shipments are made at the end of each season to the other nations.

The harvests start at the beginning of auburnspell, with many people in the Winter Plains gathering together to harvest as much garlic as possible. A short time later, the farmers figure out how much can be distributed to other nations. The collections of garlic that are not shipped off are cleaned and prepared for the long season until the next batch of garlic can be grown. Some settlements, like the Winter Moon Pack, use greenhouses to produce copious amounts of garlic all year long for when times get tough.
Placement
by Amelia Nite (Canva)
Once a week, at dawn, the head of the household will collect a bundle of garlic and string them up on the outside of their front door. Other key placements are the windowsills, where garlic-scented candles are burned, and plenty of garlic foods are cooked. The stronger the scent of garlic is in a werewolf home, the better off the citizens are.   Popular food dishes that last a few days are made over a day and packed in a dry freezer. The garlic dishes don't go bad while in the dry freezers, giving settlements plenty of food to survive on if other resources dry up.

Culture Of Moonlight Expanse

When the werewolves of the Moonlight Expanse first heard of vampires being allergic to garlic, they took the news in stride. The Wolf Council asked for the Winter Moon Pack to start increasing their garlic harvests to protect civilizations from the vampires. This practice has been in play since the early 1580s EoL.

Truth or Fiction?

Around the 1580s EoL, a vampire chef was making dinner and didn't realize the garlic he was using was rotten. He served the dish, and the vampires who ate it got very sick, starting the myth that vampires were allergic to garlic.

In truth, garlic produces a small reduction in blood pressure, which helps thin the blood, and vampires love eating garlic. Most meat dishes they make involve garlic and adds a new texture to the palette.

That twist at the end..... wonderfully done. I did not see that coming, but oh man.

Check out some of my summer camp articles, like the dangerous flying jackalope or dragon wasps. Or, for something more light-hearted, there is the whimsical language Gobbledygook and Jaden's interesting job as a guano polisher.

I thought the twist would be quite hilarious, given the stories you hear about vampires.
