Wendy was born in China in the year 1892. Her parents were academics and were forced to separate from the rest of their family and flee the revolution. They ended up settling in Zurich, both of them landing university positions. One night, while driving home from a dinner party, their car was run off the road by a dark vehicle. They went through a guardrail and plunged through the ice into a river. Both of her parents drowned, but Wendy was recovered after over an hour in the frigid water by Division operatives. She survived, but was forever changed. Her skin grew pale, and her hair changed from black to silvery gray. She developed strange powers and was able to communicate with the dead. Most disturbing of all was the fact that death now spoke to her.

After emerging from the ice, Wendy's body ceased to outwardly age. Despite her actual age, she retains the body and appearance of a 16-year-old.
Special abilities
The Harbinger within Wendy has the ability to simultaneously inhabit the realm of the living and the realm of the dead. They can manipulate souls and bend them to their will, drawing upon their essence. This gives Wendy the ability to manipulate souls and their energy as well. She can force a soul to possess her or someone else, she can strain the bonds between people and their souls, etc.
In addition to harnessing their energy on a physical level, Wendy can also communicate directly with the dead and draw upon their memories and emotions.
When Wendy uses her abilities, her eyes glow a bright green, and the same light glows on the soul energy she harnesses.

Though she tries to dismiss it, Wendy enjoys her youthful appearance, and likes to dress to current teenage fashion with a bit of a rebellious streak.
When on assignment, she wears standard issue Division tactical clothing - all black, impact-resistant tactical fabric, flexible and breathable.
Wendy is a bit self-conscious about her hair, and will often cover it up with bandanas or hats.
