Farifes

A species of seapeople. They have a human upper body and any kind of seacreature lower body. They have the power to transform into a full human form under the full moon.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Farifs have a human upper body, with some alterations like their webbed fingers and fins for ears. Their lower body is any kind of seacreature; fish, eel, crab, jellyfish. They can change into human form under the full moon.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce while in their human form. Under the full moon the farifs walk up on land and the male puts his eggs in the female. The female stays on land, and while pregnant she can't transform back to her water form. She gives birth after around 7 months and immediatly returns to the water with her child.

Growth Rate & Stages

When born, the farifs are like small fish; their human part is pretty much only their heads. The small fins on their fish part of the body transforms into arms after about 1 year. After about 5 years they have grown out the whole human upper body. The child is unable to transform into their human form until they reach 11 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

They live in both freshwater and in the sea, though not too far away from land due to their transformation and reproduction. They make the underwater plants work with them to create their homes, and they also use rocks to build.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Farifs are omnivores, they eat smaller fish, algae and other nutritionus things they can find. While on land their stomachs don't change that much, so only small amounts of berries, nuts and small plants get through their systems safe and sound (other things they throw up).

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Farifs live along the coastlines of the sea and in bigger freshwaters.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have very poor hearing, and pretty much no sense of smell. Their sight is very good and is supported by their echolocation. Their ruler becomes blind after their coronation, but their other senses are strengthened.
