Grung

"Grung strong. You weak. Grung will hunt you." -Aah

A primitive and savage race, the Grung are a froglike people that inhabit the brutal Archipelago of Acht. Anxious, aggressive, and jealous, Grung are the struggling survivors of the archipelago they live on, the only proven intelligent creatures in the region. All information known about them comes from Aah, a Grung who was taken from the archipelago and questioned in Eldia before dying from a common illness.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humanoid Frogs: Grung are humanoid frogs bearing two short arms, two short but powerful legs, and an almost comically large head.

Genetics and Reproduction

Full Facial: Grung reproduction is similar to normal frogs with some minor differences. Grung's reproduce when the female lays her eggs (between 10 and 50) in a pool of water before the male Grung releases his sperm on the eggs. Grung hatch into tadpoles within a week, where they spend the next year growing into Grung.

Growth Rate & Stages

Tadpole: Grung are tadpoles for the first two months of their life where they wander their pools aimlessly.
Grung Yung: Aah spoke at length about the second stage of Grung Yung, which he had only recently moved from, which is the adolescence of the Grung. Grung Yung are half tadpole and half Grung: they begin to leave their pool and explore the land for short periods, returning to the water when they so need to. They begin to lose their tail and grow powerful back legs and weak forward legs.
Grung: Grung are fully grown by the first year, however their exact length of life is unknown due to Aah's description of it being "very long time, many rainfalls".

Ecology and Habitats

Deep Soaking: Grung live in the rainforests of the Archipelago of Acht and require the constant rainfall to comfortably survive. Aah showed great discomfort outside of the archipelago and required a regular bucket of water to be thrown on him.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Bugs and Berries: Grung eat bugs and berries, however Aah has spoken on eating "family meat". Whether this is cannibalistic or cultural is unknown.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Proficiency in Hearing and Smell: Grung have a very acute sense of hearing and smell. Due to their home habitat receiving constant, loud rainfall, the Grung are able to pick apart certain sounds from others and can entirely cut out some sounds from their hearing (however they still hear these noises, they simply tune them out), however they seldom use this due to their anxious nature.
Magic: Grung are majorly non-magical, however Aah has spoken of shamans in the Grung tribes who can use basic magic. This information suggests that some lucky Grung are born with magical abilities while the majority are not.
