Mount Hachi (Mount Ha-chi)

A mountain renowned for its dangers, Mount Hachi is one of the most hostile places in Dasani, turning the most hardened, experienced climbers into lunch for the many monstrosities that call the barren rock their home.

Geography

Mount Hachi is the tallest mountain in Dasani, reaching high above the clouds of Kojark. Dark and foreboding, the mountain is home to many dangers such as sudden rock slides, dangerous monsters, and magical anomalies. The mountain has no paths, instead having sudden cliffs leading up with small balconies of stone poking off the side.

Ecosystem

The ecosystem of Mount Hachi is an anomaly in and of itself. While no creatures should be able to survive on such a harsh, barren mountain some have observed fantastical creatures prowling the rocks. The top scholars have come together countless times to make sense of the rock, but no logical reason can be made as to how creatures such as purple worms and wyverns can live where there is no bottom of a food chain.

Localized Phenomena

Mount Hachi is renowned for its sudden and unpredictable lightning storms. Many climbers have lost their lives believing they could climb before a sudden storm came crashing down on them. These lightning storms disappear as soon as they appear, making the mountain an unpredictable death sentence to even the most experienced climbers.
Mount Hachi is also known as the Mountain of the Lost for good reason. Climbing parties have lost large chunks of their crew, 80 percent in the most dire case, on the mountain. Survivors describe a deep mist enveloping them from out of the blue and a cold breeze wafting through the air. Once the mist disperses, climbers will have disappeared, their lines cut straight through with no fray, tear, or thread out of place. As climbers ascend, they will lose more and more people before they finally are forced to either return to the ground or disappear from the face of Dasani

Fauna & Flora

Mount Hachi has one of the most dangerous fauna of Dasani. Regularly compared to the Desert of the Dead and Pines of Desvla, Mount Hachi is home to dangerous creatures ranging from tiny beasts to giant abominations. Wyverns are regularly seen patrolling just below the clouds, grabbing Owlbears and Corpseweepers from the cliffs as Purple Worms attempt to rip them from the sky. While only a few species have been confirmed to inhabit the mountain, urban legend speaks of invisible snakes that slice you open, giant gorillas that use the mountain's drops to break you open, and humanoid creatures that multiply 100 times over before turning their victim into slush.
Interestingly, Mount Hachi has not shown itself capable of handling such a dangerous ecosystem due to the lack of vegetation. At the base of the mountain trees die when planted and grass wilts and blows away in the wind. Climbers have only described small patches of grass and barren trees sprinkled rarely throughout the rocks, much too little for even small creatures to survive off of, much less Owlbears and Purple Worms.

Tourism

Mount Hachi is a popular tourist destination of Kojark, regularly inviting streams of tourists to stare up at the unbeatable challenge. Climbers have long since given up on the mountain, leaving tourists with a sense of mystery to the mountain's true secrets.
