The Faceless
The Faceless are a large organisation, spanning across many continents, with hideouts and outposts in almost every centre of population. Their main objectives are to gather magical artefacts, study them and then put them to use.
When one joins the Faceless, they must burn all of their flesh so as to become unrecognisable. No identifiable details are permitted to remain and the inductee must ensure they have done so. Once this has been done, the new member will be given black leathers and an unmarked, plain white mask. As they further their career within the Faceless, they will gain marks, designated by red stripes on their mask. As they gain marks, their new masks contain certain powers, with each mark granting more powerful and dangerous abilities. If a member already has shown arcane prowess, they will be inducted into the mage arm of the Faceless, and don a grey mask instead. Further marks within the mage arm are designated by purple stripes on their masks.
Each Faceless begins as unmarked and will obtain an additional mark with their improvement and standing within the group. Mark of One contains minimal powers with low potency, but these will increase up until Mark of Ten.
Marks of Nine are responsible for all Faceless activities within a given continent, with the marks below being delegated countries, then cities, then districts, etc. Mark of Ten, the highest attainable mark for a Faceless, runs the entire organisation and decides it's direction.
