Glimmer

Glimmers were a species that has been around intermittently throughout the history of the world. They were very common prior to the Cladeon, so much so that texts speak of them and that is where scholars of today's age first heard about these beings. Seemingly brought back into existence in recent years glimmers have been begun to be seen in a larger variety of places.
Glimmers are often thought to be the will of the cosmos given form, though they are often just as aimless as everybody else. Generally carefree and capricious people with notoriously short memory and attention spans, they live in the moment, with little reflection on the past. Although uncommon, glimmers can be found in all walks of life. It is disputed whether the glimmers are the manifestation of an areas magical energy, an artificial creation from before the Cladeon or have a completely unrelated origin
A glimmer itself is a soul bound to cosmic gas that has formed a skin-like psychic membrane around itself. This gas gives glimmers an astral appearance with twinkling stars and swirling nebulas unique to every individual. A glimmer's skin is translucent, though many add a tint of color to the underlying gas that gives a roughly humanoid form. The only features on the glimmers surface are two glowing eye spots that are used to emote. If this membrane is punctured the interior life gas will start to leak out, though time, focus or magical healing it can mend the skin and replenish the soul.
Glimmers reproduce asexually through a secretive mitosis like process. Consequently glimmers have no social concept of gender, preferring to borrow whatever cultural elements gp from their surroundings they want to express themselves. Glimmers can bond with worn equipment, incorporating it into their membrane, creating an airtight seal. Glimmers prefer using this method, describing wearing clothes normally as feeling weird and impermanent, like holding an object by having it sit in your hand without gripping it. Glimmers tend to base their identities around or become emotionally attached to certain garments which they are rarely seen out of.
