Warbow
Weapon Ammunition, Heavy, Range, Two-Handed, Finesse Uncommon
A Warbow is a type of longbow that requires a significant draw weight, typically #130 or more, to use effectively. This high draw weight necessitates a considerable amount of strength and skill from the archer. These bows were historically designed for military purposes, where the ability to penetrate armour and cause substantial damage at long range was crucial. Compared to the more common hunting longbows, which usually have draw weights in the range of #80-100, Warbows are much more powerful. However, because they are so demanding in terms of the strength required to draw and shoot them accurately, few archers can use them effectively. Consequently, there are also fewer bowyers (craftsmen who make bows) who specialise in creating these heavy, specialised weapons. The historical significance of Warbows can be seen in medieval warfare, particularly in battles against the orcs and giants, where longbowmen played a decisive role. The development of these powerful bows was a direct response to the increasing effectiveness of armour, with Warbows capable of piercing even the best defences of the time.
