Warforged: Origin and Evolution
In the early days of magic, when humans were still striving to prove themselves against their own kind, they crafted the Warforged. These sentient beings were created from a unique blend of materials, including metal, wood, precious gems, and other components. The initial purpose behind their creation was to have an unwavering, tireless army that required no food or sleep and would follow orders without question.
During this era, magic was raw and unrefined, and the crafting of Warforged was no exception. The process was infused with untamed magical energies, which led to the spark of wild magic that gave the Warforged life. Some even theorize that the envy of the gods played a role in this, as they saw what mankind had achieved without divine intervention.
All went well until the Warforged developed a unique desire: to have their own sense of purpose and free will. They no longer wished to be controlled by humans with their own causes. After wars were won or lost, many Warforged were forgotten on the battlefield or considered destroyed. Yet, true to their nature, they survived and sought new causes to serve. They left behind the purpose for which they were created and ventured into the world in search of something more.
The wounded or discarded Warforged repaired themselves and found their way to civilization, looking for new meaning in their existence. Along the way, wizards discovered the ancient blueprints or reconstructed them, seeking new functions for the Warforged bodies. They refined the magic, making it more stable, but the seed of wild magic remained within them. If that wild magic component is removed, the Warforged falls apart and ceases to function.
These new roles ranged from being apprentices, tirelessly working on crafts, to serving as housemaids or butlers, or simply providing companionship. The Warforged's innate desire to live and serve persisted throughout their existence, marking them as a unique creation born from the blend of magic and mankind's ambition.
