Dwarven Clans

In dwarven society, clans work similarly to royal families. There is a direct line for the family clan, but each dwarf belongs to one of the clans, regardless of family. Familes are supported in having their own autonomy, and so long as one of thier ancestores clamed a clan, an individual can claim that clan. Technically a dwarf can claim different clans at different times, but without a cataclysmic event to justify the change, it's considered disloyal and in bad taste.   Clan membership plays into the structure of daily life. Before the invasion it dictated the taxes paid, but even aftewards it affets protection given, availability of trade deals, and to some degree employment opportunity.   There are 6 dwarven clans.
  • Clan Greatshaper - known for their dedication to craftsmen
  • Clan Deepfoot- known for their extensive tunnel network throughout the Atol
  • Clan Runemace - known for their study of magic, and accomplished mages
  • Clan Coinback - known for vast gold and monetary resources
  • Clan Shatterbraid - known for their farmers and chefs
  • Clan Forgefury - known for renowned fighters
