Ladder: Savant

Her strengths are not in her endurance, speed, or ability to shoot something with pinpoint accuracy. She uses a part of the body most of her comrades seem to let necrotize, her brain. She's the one with all the answers, an encyclopedia of knowledge. She went to school; She has degrees and awards of merit. She understands that she may be on the border between genius and madness, but all the great minds of the world balance that knife-edge. In her spare time, she reads.

Training Beats Experience

She can use Intelligence in place of Dexterity for attack and damage rolls and when setting save DCs with one-handed and two-handed small arms. She can also use Intelligence or Wisdom as her modifier to AC instead of Dexterity.

Not Stupid

+1 Intelligence
She gains the insight to discover if something is simply... stupid.

Training Beats Experience

+1 Intelligence
She proficient in all skills of her primary savant ability (if not already) and use her primary savant ability instead of Dexterity for her bonus to initiative.

Too Smart

+2 Intelligence
If she uses any skill tied to her primary savant ability to practice a profession during downtime activities, she can maintain a wealthy lifestyle without having to pay per day. She also does not have to pay for research, and training costs 1/4 the usual time and money.
After taking a long rest, she gains a +3 bonus to Intelligence until she makes an attack roll.

Eidetic Memory

+1 Wisdom
if she has advantage on any roll (including attack rolls and saving throws) and both results would succeed, she can set one aside. At any point in the next five minutes, she can choose not to make a d20 roll and instead use the saved die. She can only set aside one result at a time, and if not used within 5 minutes, it is lost.

Opus

+1 Wisdom
Anytime she rolls an ability check, skill check, or saving throw with her primary savant ability, she can set your die roll to her primary savant ability score.

Ladder Gains

  • +1 bonus to AC.
  • Immune to being charmed.
  • Immune to being frightened.
