Areainra/Pahice and Scainnios/Nozohr decided to start stripping Yuan-Ti of their snake elements to create Humans. The Yuan-Ti saw this as a horrible plague, and did their best to use magic to slow and reverse this degeneration. They soon found that those of their kind who'd become fully mammalian were beyond hope of reversal, but any who retained snake-like elements, even the Purebloods, could still be used in purification rituals.
