Dominates

Dominates are an old race of god-like beings, which are usually worshiped as deities by humans and other species alike.
They have existed since the dawn of time and were the first livings to ever exist.
"The Great Serpent" Ashharkriti has spawned them. He is the greatest of the Dominates himself.
They are however a danger to humans as humanity is so simply-minded that comprehend them. Most humans suffer death or may go insane from encountering them.
An old Roman poet called Cytorius (34 B.C - 12 A.D) first recorded the name given to them now. Dominates meaning "to rule" in Latin. 
He was killed by a Plant star for trying to stop Dermura's plans on Earth. He also went insane after researching too information on the gods, writing a book on his findings shortly before his unexpected death in 12 A.D.
The first recorded worship of these beings lays deep within pre-history: even primitative humans worshiped them. 
Long before any religion, humanity worshiped the Dominates.
