On Anwon 23rd, 352 TA, the first Aberration-class entity in 62 years appeared on an inner island. The monstrosity spawned on the Oasis Skerry, in the waters just outside of Fortania city. Between its spawn and its death, the entity had slain over five hundred people. It was exterminated a day after it spawned by the crew of Shorerider, a Black Iron Navy ship just outside of Fortania.

In the fading dusk of Anwon 23rd, 352 TA, an eldritch monstrosity (now officially called the "Warping Mass") appeared on the Oasis Skerry. The being spawned just west of the Fortania trade hub with no forewarning. It quickly climbed the stone walls and began to wreak havoc to the sleeping denizens of the city. It is likely that some attempted to kill the entity, though none succeeded. Amid the chaos and death of the rampage, many fled to the harbors of the city, and one man by the name of Argos Wailen stole a lesser sailboat to escape.   By dawn, Wailen had come across the navy ship Shorerider. He sailed up to the vessel, and told captain Tarkov Rem of the attack. Not bothering to consult the crew, Rem set sail for Fortania immediately, ordering that the most capable on board be given the two Titiantoppler guns. Jarmiah Fau-Watskin and Ivakina Jiehow were chosen for the task of wielding the weapons, being the most physically fit of the crew.   Upon arrival at Fortania, the Shorerider was ambushed by the Warping Mass as it appeared on deck. The thing killed around a third of the entire crew, including Jeremiah Fau-Watskin. It eventually fell to the two Titaintoppler blasts, along with the fire of the marine's muskets. Jiehow remained alive, though was passed off as mortally wounded by the ship's doctors. Despite their negligence, she survived after gaining a Sea Curse from her wounds.   When the Shorerider returned to Brimsey, Tarkov Rem was dishonorably discharged from the navy for his recklessness. The fact that his actions resulted in the death in Jeremiah, who was the son of one of the navy's Iron Admirals, contributed to this decision. The surviving crew of Shorerider was given additional pay, along with twenty additional days of vacation time.
