WorldEmber 2021 Pledge
Okay, so this is my first WorldEmber and also my very first World Anvil challenge. I'm sooo excited! I am really hoping to get to know my world better and explore all the corners and nooks. I missed NaNoWriMo but I won't miss this. Let's get into it!
My goal is to first learn how to work and write in World Anvil, as I didn't get to dive into it this deep before. Though I'm quite new to this and don't have any article on my page yet, I do have a lot in my mind, and I'm hoping to put it into words here.
After getting to know the interface (which I'll probably be doing on the fly) I would like to write about some of these:
Most of them are my own, some are from World Anvil ^-^
Goal:
My goal is to first learn how to work and write in World Anvil, as I didn't get to dive into it this deep before. Though I'm quite new to this and don't have any article on my page yet, I do have a lot in my mind, and I'm hoping to put it into words here.
Ideas:
After getting to know the interface (which I'll probably be doing on the fly) I would like to write about some of these:
- Darkness - What is it? How does it work? How does it affect the people/world? Light vs. Darkness? Magic? Can you catch it? Does it possess you?
- Main circular/flower shaped cities shielded by "Light" - How were they constructed? Pros n cons? Communication between each other? Trading system? Source of "Light shield"? Population? Life outside these cities? Rope riding as alternative to streets?(there are still streets, just ropes are faster)
- The setting in general - Climate? Biomes? How is population scattered? Overall elevation? Fauna n flora? Languages? Finished map?
- Future calling rituals - How does it work? What is necessary? How accurate is it? Luminol + blood?
- Ground starlights/ Starberries - Why do they glow? Etymology? Significance to the people? Medical? How common? Where?
- Historical event - fight between archmage of Light and archmage of Darkness → Destruction of one of the Main cities - Why did they get the spells wrong? How was it so strong? Context? Causes? Consequences?
- Character - poor, shy, saves every possible thing -> collects weird stuff, quite tall and slim, apologizes all the time, counts everything that owns to the smallest bit, a bit over the place sometimes
- Darkborn - Who? How are they connected? They know everything that darkness saw. One thing? "Teleportation"?
- Seasons - Why are they named the way they are? What does it mean? Magical aspect?
- The mushroom village and its feasts - How often? What do they do? Don't collect shrooms for too long! What do they eat?
- Use “if this then what?” a lot
Prompts:
Most of them are my own, some are from World Anvil ^-^
- Fortress with a temple on an island in the middle of a lake/river that is only accessible when the water is frozen - Why not boats? (Have to figure that out) - maybe some water creature?
- "Pitch black unknown" - How does it work that you always arrive there at night? How was it created? What is it? What is hidden under the Darkness?
- Magical explosion, casting a huge pressure wave that is so strong that it turns every place it passes by into silence. It pushes all the noises in front of itself, making a cacophony of every sound. Why did it happen? Maybe the fight of archmages above^ ? How does it work? Consequences? Pros n cons?
- "In indecisiveness lies the true power"
- Weather forecast of this world?
- You can somehow redefine when you were born to change what you can do, who you are...
- "May you not set as the Sun in the sky"
- Ice in the form of gas -> from geyser like structures (floats up-lighter than air) - freezing food, water, ... How do ppl use it?
- "Trash keepers"
- The lake of eternal ice
- Fire is like a child
- It is rude to have the same path as someone else
- Animal with inverted vision (sees at night as we'd see during the day, vice versa)
- Rope climbing fight/dance/ritual on the edge of a cliff
- This demon?
- This creature?
- Describe a geographic location beneath the surface – what can you find lurking there?
- Share some common idioms and phrases from a culture in your world.
- Describe a winter tradition that exists within one culture of your world. What is celebrated, and what’s involved in the festivities?
- Write about a special item used to keep track of time.
- What does the rainbow symbolize in a culture of your world?

I love the "if this then what?" approach! Gonna use that myself. ^^ Good luck with your goal!
Thanks. Good luck to you too!
