Deck of Many Things
A symbol and artifact of The All-Colored, the Deck of Many Things is a unique set of cards influenced by fate.
The deck has been found during multiple points in time, always containing a random set of cards. The deck appears as a tarot card set, including all of the major arcana.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
0. The Fool
Your Intelligence score decreases by 1d4+1 points to a minimum INT score of 1. You may draw one additional card beyond your declared cards.
1. The Magician
The fabric of reality unravels and spins anew. You choose one event to avoid or erase as if it never happened. You may use this card's magic as soon as it is drawn, or at any other time before your death. The DM determines the ramifications of this change.
2. The High Priestess
The visage of this card curses you. You take a -2 penalty to all saving throws while cursed by this card. Only a Wish spell or interference from another card can end this curse.
3. The Empress
This card restores you from all status conditions, diseases, or other ailments. This is a harmful effect for Undead creatures, damaging them for half their max hit points before removing their undead status.
4. The Emperor
You become cursed with wild magic. On a natural 1 you suffer from a wild magic curse. If you already suffer from this, you are gifted an additional magic item of the DM's choosing.
5. The Hierophant
At any point before you die, you reach out to a higher power to ask, and receive one truthful answer to your question. Besides information, the answer helps you solve a puzzling problem or other dilemma, and the knowledge comes with wisdom on how to apply it.
6. The Lovers
Place this card on the body of a recently fallen creature, this card will restore them to the state they were in prior to death that would allow them to still survive.
Significance
The Deck of Many Things is said to be an artifact of the goddess of fate, Lady Istus. Each card of the deck has a different face and just as unique as the cards are the fate's outcomes.
