The Festival of Lanterns is a holiday native to the Prime Material Plane that commemorates The Divergence.
History
The tradition of the Festival of Lanterns began after the banishment of Pariah in 1 PD. The original event marked one year after the god's demise and was held in honor of those lost during the Divergence and to ward off the harm of Pariah himself.
Execution
By nightfall the lanterns are lit in order to ward off the darkness of Pariah. Participants in the holiday dress in a variety of costumes in remembrance of the event, often mimicking the monsters that scattered the plane during the Divergence. Followers of the gods often worship on this night to honor the gods and their sacrifices made to banish Pariah from the Prime Material Plane.

Observance
The Festival of Lanterns takes place on the 60th of Leaffall and lasts until sunrise on the 61st. The event typically begins around dusk, although the holiday is often celebrated all day.
