Frost Dwarf

F
rom the far reaches of the continent of Strihia, the Frost Dwarves continue their nomadic traditions in the great Northern Wastes. Continually testing their limits, some of the greatest warriors and dwarves come from the incredible focus on individual strength and no where does family pride live stronger.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Since they are very isolated most Frost Dwarves spend most of their lives speaking their form of Dwarvish rather than Common. The Frost version of Dwarvish has more rolling letters and is softer in speech. Unlike the usual strong cadence that comes from Mountain and Hill Dwarves, Frost Dwarves speak in a much smoother fashion.

Common Dress code

Continuously fighting the elements, furs sewn into metal are the standard armor worn by the Frost Dwarves. The metal is adorned with much more decorative symbols, less geometric and more flowing. Animal bones and depictions of various hunts and battles are common on chestplates as well as weapons. Most Frost Dwarves get piercings all over their bodies as well as tattoos connected to their clan or house. War paint is always worn when heading into battle.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

With such a focus on individual ability, visual appearance is not a large player in how most Frost Dwarves pick their partners. Success in their field as well as displays of strengths typically are larger players in attraction. Many times a family may offer their strongest warrior to pair with the strongest warrior of another family to keep that tradition alive and usually this is seen as a great honor with rarely any objection.

Gender Ideals

Both Female and Male Frost Dwarves are expected to be able to handle the same difficulties. From a young age every child is given the opportunity to try every aspect of the culture and will continue this journeyman existance well through their 60s and 70s. As they age the family they are a part of will begin to pick and choose their paths in order to build speciality for that particular dwarf, allowing for them to truly master their craft.
