Na Leanas (Nah Lay-ahn-ahs)
History
The origin of the ritual of Na Leanas began when the first outsider of The Order of the Ivory Scaleexpressed their stalwart desire to join the nomadic religious group. Usually, new members of the organization were gained through the birth of white dragonborn within the associated Clan Iisylka, so an outsider joining the fold had been previously unheard of. However, the leaders of the time deemed it a mark of their success in outreach and fostering the greater good that others wanted to join the group and therefore devised a sort of coming of age ritual in order to be inducted into the Order. The ritual itself has not changed much over the course of time, however, minor adjustments and concessions are made to the stipulations and execution of the ritual according to the leaders of the time and other constraining circumstances.
Execution
Na Leanas is a relatively simple ritual, all that is required is that the prospective disciple follow a missionary group of Radiants and act as an unofficial squire to the group to the completion of their mission. The groups that the initiates are assigned to tend to affiliate with the aspect of the Order that the newcomer is least attuned to; for example, if the outsider is drawn to the prospect of slaying evil creatures they will be assigned to a political outreach group tasked with settling a civic dispute. The ritual is successful if the party returns to the leaders safely and the initiate receives a positive recommendation from the Order members they traveled with.
Components and tools
As a common rule, excessively powerful or enchanted items are not permitted as they foster an imbalance in a challenge designed to test the initiate's internal skillset.
Participants
The three leaders of the Order must all approve of the individual wishing to take part in Na Leanas and they stand to make the final decision upon the return of the party.
