Demonpunk

In the year 2027, Yellowstone National Park erupted. A colossal spear of ice kicked off the eruption, breaking through the Earth's crust and piercing into the sky with an icy crack. The sky froze over and perpetual winter snowed from above. To the dismay of most scientists, the event was actually a breach in realms, literally unleashing Hell on Earth. As demons poured out by the thousands, humanity as a unit fought back in a desperate attempt to abate extinction of all life as we know it. A frozen sky, demons, archangels, and the bloodiest war ever fought were what tormented the next year until Men finally snuffed out the hellish flames.   The Helltear was all that was left. A massive smoldering hole in the Earth where the initial eruption took place, the Helltear was ground zero. Humanity could not afford to let Hell get the jump on them again, and the hole was still active, albeit a fraction of what it once was. A mobilization of the world's most lethal forces organized en masse around the hole, building the Iron Halo around it to hold a strong line.   Now, in the year 2040, humanity has advanced greatly, and the Iron Halo along with it, becoming a fortified mega-structure of defense for the torturous trickle of demon advancement. But the Iron Halo and the supreme importance of the work has attracted an audience of all shapes and sizes, eventually becoming the city known today as San Civatas. Encircling the Iron Halo that lines the perimeter of the Helltear, San Civatas is a militarized dystopia of cutting edge technology and the biological advancement of demonic grafting. There, the most lucrative of opportunities exist, but so do the shadiest of people.
