Forgotten Crystal Temple
The Forgotten Crystal Temple is an old temple that sits in the back of the Singing Grove. The temple was first created by the Crystal Eye sect of the Order of Kastula. The Temple would remain under their control for a while, it is where the remains of Blistfourn the Crystal Greatwyrm. The Arch-mage Shemshine cam upon the cavern while marking out his domain and forced the Crystal Eye out. Shemshine converted the temple into a temporary lab while he was created the rest of Ossenbrook Bellow. He found the statues and discovered it's purpose so he boarded up the basement and continued his work. He eventually came upon the idea of introducing mythril into the statue system to corrupt it, but he overestimated his control of the substance. He began an expedition to the Sargath Ruins in the Great Casam. He was looking for mythril research but instead found Agharion's Golden Gate and the entrance to Aelinthaldaar. Shemshine wanted to breach it for the power source, so he built a tunnel from the gate and slowly began to siphon the power of the Gate to his personal project, he built the Soul Conflux to trap souls of those who died to power his effort to make a power source strong enough to make him immortal and powerful enough to break down the Golden Gate. Shemshine ran into the Mythril Makers, of the time, and forged an alliance to gather their knowledge and practices in exchange for his curse and disease understanding and insights as a necromancer. Shemshine attempted to create an new species of fungus born from the souls of those within the Soul Conflux. The Fungus began to grow past Shemshine's rate of control and absorb the moisture in the air, forcing him to use the mythril to exterminate as many of the shrooms as possible. He became infected with the Mythril Madness. In his madness he became obsessed with getting to Aelinthaldaar, and concerned the Mythril Makers to a point where they refused to work with him, in turn he used his singing magic spells to drive them insane, and then became so obsessed with the event that he made the key to his Soul Conflux, the book. After the mythril Makers died and his mortality encroached, he began getting more desperate and paranoid. He began to become mad an irrational and grew fearful of the gold pieces watching him and decided to hide the key to his machine in a library full of books, so he found a library in Bastinhelm and hid the book inside, but there were scholars who saw him, so he dealt with them using his singing magic and then hid in a chamber in the library and slowly died and rotted.
