An Agapyel Healer is a type of Magus that is able to manipulate living flesh, disease, and life force to restore health, heal injuries, and in the most powerful manifestation, even raise and restore the dead back to life. Raising and restoring the dead can only be accomplished by the most skilled and passionate Agapyel Healers. There are few such individuals anywhere on Derkomai.
An Agapyel Healer should not be confused for a mundane doctor or nurse. Doctors and nurses are often quite skilled, using their medical knowledge and skills to treat diseases and injuries, but ultimately depending on the human body's natural healing processes to effect recovery. On the other hand, an Agapyel Healer heals by channeling and focusing powerful emotions of compassion and empathy through ritual spells to directly manipulate diseased or injured tissues, directly removing diseases and knitting wounds. A complete healing by an Agapyel Healer will often leave the healed person in better health than before being injured or falling ill.
In Sudland, especially in Daskar, Agapyel Healers are also called Preetyelrim and are regarded as being almost a separate species.
