Session XVI - 04.11.2020
General Summary
- The group—accompanied by a host of refugees and a good number of armed soldiers and supply wagons—makes its way to the High Hall, where they settle down and rest. Invigorated by their newfound powers, they Recount recent events to Pharra and Ulder Ravenguard. Pharra is distraught at the news that Gideon Lightward, her Husband, not only lost his life when Elturel was dragged into the Nine Hells, but now walks the city in a state of undeath, the bane of all he swore to destroy in life. Darius decided to spare Pharra the trauma of discovering that Gideon Lightward is a follower of Zariel , and became so before the city was shifted.
- Recovering from the shock of what she learned, Pharra took a close look at the Helm of Torm. She explained how the helm had been a symbol of the city since its founding, when the Champion of Torm Eledar Silverwing used it to escape the maddening influence of the warlock Aghrax and secured the plot of land on which Elturel was founded. Since then, the Helm has been used in times of crisis by the leaders of the city, who often received visions and clarity from it. To her dismay, she found the artifact currupted, rife with arcing demonic energies, but also brimming with the powerful glow of her god Torm. She devised a ritual that would allow a vessel wearing the helm to act as a catalyst and allow Torm's energies to purge the corrupting influence and restore the Helm to its former glory.
- The group agreed to the ritual and Pharra asked Darius to help her, as the prayer she wanted to perform involved elements of both Torm's and Lathander's liturgies. Pharra then asked the group who of them would act as the vessel, the person that would need to wear the Helm and withstand the effect of the demonic corruption. Jo stepped forth and bravely took up the challenge.
- They set up everything that was required on the consacrated altar of Torm at the ground floor. As soon as Darius and Pharra started the incantation, the helm reacted violently. Multiple globules of crackling electricity emerged from small tears in reality and started attacking the group summoned forth by the mighty clash of gods that was taking place within Jo. It took several rounds of combat before the ritual was completed and the group was almost overwhelmed. Jo survived with only one hit point but after the Deamon was driven out and she opened her eyes—almost as if for the first time in her life—Jo SAW.
