Blizzards
Occasionally in Rayce, a strong wind will pick up and combine with snow, creating a blizzard. This can be a random encounter or a plot device. Typically speaking, blizzards last 1d12 hours, though long term blizzards that last a week are also possible.
While a blizzard is underway, the entirety of the outside is considered heavily obscured, as well as difficult terrain, or extra difficult terrain if it is already considered difficult. Characters also have disadvantage on any navigation checks made without navigational instruments. Finally, if a creature spends more than an hour in the blizzard without magical protection, they will start to take 1d6 cold damage per hour, as well as making a DC 15 CON save each hour spent in the cold. If they fail, the creature takes 1 frozen condition. Each hour the DC increases by 1, regardless of if the creature fails or not. After the creature spends more than a short rest inside shelter, this DC resets.
