Mindscapes and Dreamscapes

When Psions enter another person's mind, they may find themselves in one of two possible manifestations of the inner mind. The first manifestation is called a mindscape, which is a metaphysical world shaped by the person's experiences, personality, and desires. Mindscapes are highly personal and typically well structured in the mind of a sane person.
The other manifestation is called a dreamscape, which is the metaphysical world of a dream that the person is experiencing. Unlike mindscapes, the form of a dreamscape is not closely tied to the person's mentality and tends to be more chaotic. Dreamscapes may feature abrupt seams between locations within the dream, and often experience wild shifts in tone and logic.
For psions, understanding the difference between the mindscape and the dreamscape is crucial. While the mindscape can provide valuable insight into a person's psyche, a dreamscape can be a more challenging and unpredictable environment. Psions must be prepared to adapt to the changing nature of a Dreamscape and be ready to face the unexpected challenges that may arise within it.
Psions must exercise caution when exploring either of these metaphysical worlds. Although they cannot be physically harmed or killed on the metaphysical plane, significant damage to their projection can disrupt it and force them back into their physical body. This abrupt shunting of the mind can have serious side effects on the psyche, and repeated shunting can cause irreparable damage without sufficient time to recover.
Mindscapes tend to be less dangerous, unless the owner of the mind is well trained in defending against mental invasions. Dreamscapes, on the other hand, are always potentially dangerous due to their unpredictable nature. This risk is heightened when the mind's owner is experiencing nightmares, which can create hostile manifestations and even hostile environments within the dreamscape.
With the proper skills and knowledge, psions can locate passages or portals that allow them to leave a mindscape and enter the Collective Subconscious. From this liminal space, they can connect to the mindscape or dreamscape of any individual who shares a connection with their current host. By traversing these connections, Psions can explore the interconnectedness of the collective subconscious and gain access to a vast network of individual minds and dreams.
