The Vrith and Vrithlands
Geography
The Vrith is a mountain range, veiled in ice, that spans between two active volcanic areas. Situated to the north of the Vrith are the elevated Vrithlands, which rise above the lands to the south. The Vrith poses a daunting obstacle to traverse, and the sole safe route into the Vrithlands is via a dense forest situated on the far side of the eastern volcanic region. As the Vrith can't be approached directly from the east without crossing the Nassodrin Sea, it provides a formidable defense for the Vrithmen and presents a significant challenge to travelers and invaders. The Vrithlands' altitude makes it unapproachable from the northern ice cap, further strengthening its defensive capabilities.
History
The Vrithlands, the ancestral territory of the Vrithmen, a distinct human ethnic group, was once divided into several autonomous clans. However, these clans eventually united to form the Northern Empire. The primary objective of the Empire was to expel the arctic elves who occupied the lands immediately south of the Vrith. This goal was accomplished, but with the passage of time, the Southern Clans opted to secede from the Empire and return to their prior system of clan-based governance. Despite this separation, both the Clans and the Empire maintain a tenuous yet peaceful relationship, engaging in regular military maneuvers to remain fortified against any external threats.
