Æthaøl
The cool, clean, mountain air of Æthaøl gently glides over rolling hills, crystalline rivers, and quaint villages. A popular destination for writers, especially the Naturalism movement and those suffering from Gorgon Lung due to it's beautiful and healthy environments.
Unfortunately, its bustling tourist and 'summering' crowd seasons are not large enough to carry the nation into power and prestige. To make most of the nation's income their westernmost coast is home to many, many, fishing ports that operate from just before sunup to sundown.
The nation has had trouble modernizing, with things like trains and telegraph wires being slow to appear within it's borders. Not for lack of trying, or for public support, simply because the terrain is more difficult to work with, despite it's gentle meandering. The ground is soft, the trees not good for construction, and the villages worthy of being connected together are very far between, all of which slow the process immensely as materials and work crews have to be carted inland if they want to get there in any reasonable amount of time.
Its factories are in the nascent stage, only producing a few luxury goods, and its military relies on purchasing military surplus from other nations, though plans and contracts of production of a Æthaølian designed line of military hardware are under review.
That being said, that nation already has 6 ironclads, two more than any nation directly after them on that list.
Even if they are hand-me-downs purchased from other nations and are out of date by half a century. Hell, some of them are still first model attempts, wooden hulls with iron plates bolted on to them. Still effective, but quickly becoming less so.
the pantheon of Æthaøl struggles to maintain martial and war with the countries Divine population.
