Divinity
Divinity is in the blood. Literally and figuratively.
Our gods walk among us, and while divine parents sire divine children, anyone can awake to divinity at any point in their life. The words of their Domain(s) writing themselves on the skin in a flash of light, a sudden storm, a swarming of insects or woodland animals, or any other number of events that are impossible to ignore.
Be they born or awakened, Gods wield supreme might over that of mortal men. Even without accounting for their many and varied Domains, they are stronger, more durable, and longer-lasting than even the cream of the mortal crop. They can't be harmed by mundane weapons or hands, at least not easily. The amount of force or repeated strikes needed to draw a drop of blood renders the task untenable. The job is made easier by the introduction of a weapon constructed by a god, or in the best-case scenario: another god.
While even a cannonball can leave some gods with only a slight headache, if that, one god can kill another with a mundane butter knife or a regular bullet fired from a regular gun if they wanted. Their strength and powers render each other mortal in the grand scheme of conflict and murder. As such, one could argue that even the gods are no safer than the rest of us when the scales are truly weighed.
As you might imagine, their strength and their power make gods incredibly valuable in our ever-changing world, and governments and kings will pay vast sums of money to maintain their own 'pantheon' of gods and goddesses. Can you really put a price on being able to wave a hand and revitalize a dying field? Or a soldier that can fight an entire battalion on their own without a scratch? Of course, you can.
While their role in society can't be overstated, they are not worshipped as the Old Gods were. They live, love, and work like the rest of us. Using their natural born abilities to make their way in the world.
