The Ashwood

A unique forest that covers most of the territory of Sabháin, the Ashwood gets it's name from the gray substance that originates from it's trees and weather.   It has the consistency of fresh snowfall but does not melt, nor is it cold in any sense. Unless something acts upon it, it will simply sit in a pile infinitely and any plant life beneath it will slowly be choked out.    While it is not poisonous, it is not pleasant to breath or consume, with a very bitter taste to it. Most people who live in the Ashwood will keep a sort of mask on them at all times in case the weather decides to take a turn.    Other than simply moving it, the only reasonable way to get rid of the substance is to mix it with water where it will dissolve.    The rain is excitedly waited for in the Ashwood, as it's the only time it's inhabitants can escape their gray and white world.
