Yuan Ti

Adapted from the Yuan-Ti of Wizards of the Coast
The serpent-folk of the northern jungles are all but unknown to most of the races of Mayar. The eastern Dragonborn of Nokhungaar are plagued by raiding parties, but they always seem to slither away into the jungles as quickly as they came out of them.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Those who are more serpent-like are considered of the highest caste, while those who most resemble humans are at the bottom.   All Yuan-Ti train as warriors, and are never found without a weapon. They typically use guerilla tactics, in small raiding parties, so that they can more easily slip in and slip out again.

Common Dress code

Those who are more human in form tend to wear clothing, while the more snakelike Yuan-Ti wear very little apart from their armor. The lowest class will often disguise themselves in human form to infiltrate the societies of others and bring back information.

Art & Architecture

Yuan-Ti typically take up residence in the ruined temples of the ancients, and modify them to suit their own liking. Carvings of great serpents adorn the temple walls, and each has a grand chamber for their blood sacrifices. When not hidden deep in jungle, they favor deep winding underground catacombs, often with multiple secret entrances.

Common Taboos

Yuan-Ti may never choose to live among the other races, and all of the Pureblood spies who have tried have been swiftly taken out by assassins.

Common Myths and Legends

It is thought that the Yuan-Ti were once humans who began worshipping the snake gods. The true believers were gifted with children who were more serpent-like in form, and the Yuan-Ti have continued to pursue an unholy, snakelike perfection.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Those who are the most serpentine are considered the most beautiful. In fact, the rare few with no humanoid features at all are often regarded as demigods, and oversee the temples.
