Pineborough (Pine-bur-oh)

Description: Pineborough is a small town within the Copper Forest. This Small Village is nestled deep within the forest amidst a single copse of pine trees planted by the first halflings to settle the area. As most folks would say, "Kirnan's grandpappy had it by way of his da's second aunt who had it from her great great granny whos cousin's great uncle was there. The first settlers of Pineborough were chased from their home in the Ciethy forest by a great dragon. The great dragon demanded the village give it tribute and the villagers did their best in the harsh lands they lived in. The great dragon grew angry as the village was able to give it less and less. The great dragon, whos heart was cold and uncaring of the villagers struggles, attacked and destroyed the village. Many families fled the dragon's wrath with only the few things they carried on their backs. The great druidess Gelda Quickspirit led the fleeing halflings to Pineborough and planted the pine grove to remind us all of our past and teach each child that we will weather every hardship and make the best for ourselves." The village has very little contact with the wider world. There is nothing expressly forbidding those of Pineborough from leaving but it is heavily discouraged. The town consists of small homes, each with a small garden growing various food crops for its residents. A bustling town square with lines strung from rooftop to rooftop, each line covered from end to end with brightly colored fabric scraps that flutter cheerily in the wind, filling the whole square with a festive feel. A grand temple, dedicated to Yondalla's Children, sits at the town center, made of polished stone and beautifully carved and oiled wood it glitters with the light filtering through the forests leaves. The temple shows carved frescos depicting scenes of nature, fields nourished by sunlight, The celebration of death, a gathering of halflings, A grove of tall pines, and a shifting panel that would shift with the light between a cat that was either resting or eating a fish on a windowsill, with a bowl of fish beyond the window.     Population: The town consists of a mere 335 halflings. Though there is rumor that Elina has convinced a Dryad to take residence in one of the Pine trees.     Government: Because the town is so small the head of each household gets to cast a vote in all town decisions. The towns elder and druid, Elina Silverhare, is in charge of maintaining order during all town proceedings and calling the heads together. There are three major families that lead most of the community decisions though, the Sun's, the Copper's and the Ember's. The three houses can claim kinship with the majority of the town and fighting between houses tends to sway the decisions.     Notable Places:
