Base description: Born and raised in Pineborough, a small village in the Copper Forest, Rin left in his early twenties to make his way in the world. His father, Merrin Coldgrain, was a locksmith, and his mother, Vaelle Coldgrain, was a baker. He has 3 other siblings: Willos; a whitesmith. Eizana; a baker with her mother, and Kasdak a locksmith and apprentice artificer. All live in or around Pineborough. He has traveled to Batun, Keford, and Watun, doing oddjobs and on the side offering his services: espionage, forging documents, cheating cards, and a little cat burglaring. Considers himself a private contractor, but if confronted by the authorities claims he is a wandering ranger in search of a bounty of a "dangerous monster" that doesn't actually exist.
After leaving leaving his village in the Pineborough in the Copper Forest Rin made his way to Batun knowing that his skills as a locksmith were high in demand and that his skills in cards would make him money. In Batun Rin was a card sharp and all the crimes of cheating and swindling apply. But when money was low or there was a job that paid, Rin stealthfully burgled both rich man and drug dealer. He mostly avoided repercussions, however at a tavern an elven bard made one too many jokes at the expense of halflings to Rin and a halfling friend he had made since his time in Rin drunkenly stabbed the bard (non fatally). Leaving the tavern Rin decided that this was a good time to bail Batun to Keford by way of Babrygg. Rin's friend followed but after falling into a mud pit Rin discovered, to their horror and/or surprise that their halfling friend was a goblin in disguise. After reconciliation, the goblin teaches Rin how to use a disguise kit and part ways at Babrygg, where Rin makes his way to Keford. TLDR: illegal gambling, cheating, fraud, breaking and entering, espionage, pickpocketing, burglary, larceny (both grand and petty), assault (Bard stabbing) In Batun.
Rin found his way to Keford and to his dismay found the guard very nosey and somewhat competent. Rin, now having disguised himself as Rock Hardbottom, a short malnourished dwarf, found himself in no end of trouble with the law; Suspicion of burglary, Suspicion of gambling, Suspicion of feeding vermin, ect.. This continued until Rin found another halfling. The luckiest damn halfling Rin had ever met. Rin learned how to forge documents, money, and any thing he needed from this halfling and as a parting gift, as Rin made his way to Watun, was gifted with a forgers kit.
