Starting Plot

You are all in or around the city of Watun and have all independently made your way on to The Grand Shanty, a floating bar as it meanders down the Ileno River on a 3 day journey to the sea. On the first evening just past sunset, as you go about your business in the Grand Shanty, 5 comets tear across the heavens. The body of the comets are white hot fading to a bright gold then a tinge of red as it dissipates. You watch as the comets blaze paths toward the ground. A terrible screech and a loud crash echo in the hills and mountains to the east of the city, sounding as if a mountain had cracked in two from one of the fiery orbs crashing roughly 30 miles from the city. No one knows what these might have been but speculation ranges from a sign from the gods to the end of the world. People are not sure whether to panic or go about business as usual and the general feeling is restless on board the Shanty as you work your way slowly in the direction of the impact.
