Letter from Calliope's Father to Calliope, 2022 07 30

Calliope, my dearest:   I am very proud of you. The Elder has told me of your accomplishments and the special project she has given you. I cannot wait until you return with the song you shall write in your travels.   I think it is time to tell you more about what I had hoped with your future, and a secret of your past we have not discussed.   We don't speak much about your mom, and I'm sorry. It has never been an easy subject to discuss. As you know, we Satyrs tend to enjoy life and stay out of the politics of man -- but your mother was not a Satyr.   Long ago there was a war in the Dark Rainforest and Forlione was a major player in those battles. It was during that war that I met your mother. We fell in love and we had you, but shortly after you were born she disappeared. I did all I could do to raise you, but I always wondered what happened to her. I ask that you try to see if you can find her.   That compass I commissioned for you, it will also assist with finding her. It should signal when you are close to her.   All I can tell you is her name was Relia, and she was some kind of Fey. Honestly, I can't tell you more than that right now.   Please see what you can do, and I wait for the song.   Love endures,   Melios
