Episode Sixty-three - Fallen Hero
General Summary
Aldrich, Arion, and Varis journeyed with the armored courier, pushing their bodies through the dreariness of the early morning and on into the highsun. As they sat down for an afternoon's rest Varis realized that, since Calaeriel hadn't returned to unlife, something was likely wrong. He, after shortly borrowing the bag of holding, retrieved her chest of dirt and placed it on a log nearby. Within an hour Calaeriel was restored to unlife where upon she crawled out of the log. After some judging looks from the mercenary, Varis gave a brief reroute of conversation, and then caught Calaeriel up on recent events. As the group set out once more, still without Thorum, they traveled the last leg of the day's march and found a nice camp. As the mercenary went out to look for wood, the party noticed a body nearby.
The body was that of a female's. She was in common clothing and had an empty shortsword scabbard at her side. She was also wearing a messenger's leather satchel and as Varis noticed it, he stooped down to look inside. Inside the satchel there was a letter, it was sealed and marked "To Arion." When he showed it to Aldrich, Aldrich called Arion over. The letter was an invitation from Lynx Creatlach, it bore a strong resemblance to the letter given to them by Sir Ursas. It offered a similar quest and warned of the other rival.

At the inn the manager Estra Bloodoak would find them a room as Lirva Skullance, the bartender, would fawn over Arion and Aldrich, in that order. Arion would manage to pick a fight with Lukas Gramlich for insulting Ce, a server, as they'd spot an adventuring company and hear the Golden Revolution from Barovia play. After an intrigue filled night they stayed in the room a witch had supposedly died in and then awoke one the morning of the 29th to set out for the wizard's tower.
In the night, before a voice would whisper to Arion my powers grow here, my kingdom will come, a wolfwere lord named Casper Herzberg and a vampire, named Augustin Krauser, told the party that Sir Usas and Lynx's rivalry likely stemmed from a hellish feud, a war between two devils. As they walked the steps down to Tormaq's tower and through the illusion around it, they hoped he might offer more answers as well as a way to bring back Thorum.
After the party told the wizard about their mission of importance, stopping Entropy, he allowed them audience and informed them he had a mission of his own. He told them that he wanted to open a portal to the heavens to see his wife one more time. They agreed to help him and learned about a machine known as the Infernal Machine of Lum the Mad.
Using the scroll meant for his wife, Tormaq brought back Thorum and the party had him join them on a mission to potentially fight devils. Enthused, Thorum joined them as they set out toward the home of Sir Usas.
