Life, Achievement/ Win
Relatively unknown heroes and vigilantes do secret battle in the hills of Bayview Heights.
GM's Notes:
-The Party arrives in the area of the Golden Calf Casino to find the Mad Jester, whom Doc Scott tracked with his cloud.
-The party head over and recon the Golden Calf Casino via Doc Scott's abilities and Jester's place in it. Vincent, Ben, and Arnold are seen by Illias exiting the subway. He just sees two tough guys bringing out a wimpy frightened young man. Illias stops them, considering them muggers. They talk and they see his gun turn into a cane.
-The group agrees to focus their attention on Jester and Illias tells the group about his powers.
-The party goes to the Golden Calf Casino, they tie up the Jester and Doc's Demon teleports Jester to the subway. The party waits ten then see Doc Scott is gone (his demon took over). They see the mobsters out the service entrance when they leave and then go to the train and are taken to the Doc's mansion. They all settle in, having seen the Doc there after his brief stent in the demon. They left Arnold at the casino, though after seeing roughly thirty gangsters arrive with guns, he was promptly ambushed by some and shot; as was the Mad Jester's wishes.
-Later in the day Doctor Scott contacts a local club to hire Chester Brown and his band for a party at his home.
-Doctor Scott travels to Lantern Hill Cemetary
-He speaks with Lantern Jack and learns about the bombs Jester planted.
-He meets Tom Prophet and he tries to play the doctor for a fool. Lantern Jack straightens Prophet out and Doc Scott then asks for help saving Chris Danger from his serum. They then venture to meet the newly formed Freedom Society. Doc Scott then show them his encounter with The Watcher.
-Doc urges the group to be wary of the Germans and told Cliona his weakness is magic.
-Doc Scott then gave Freedom Society walkie-talkies.
-He returned home only to fail in his desire not to slip on the ring again.
-He begins a reign of terror as his personal demon.
-Around the same time Noam is offered friendship by Necromancer if she'll help him kill some "bad men." She remains skeptical and goes with him to Scottlane, Doc Scott's driveway.
-Noam came from Gull and had an Archdemon of arcane crafting that took her from the streets and mentored her. An archdemon wanting more power kidnapped her to make her a tool to defeat their rival clan. She said no and was taken captive in that demon's territory and kept in it until a hunt started and which have her the chance to escape but she was killed and taken back many times on these entertainment hunts. Finally on her last hunt she was stabbed in the chest and on her last breath activated an unknown power which teleported her through dimensions into Freedom City. She reentered the realm of Earth and men from Hell, the realm of Gull; the marketplace of Hell, the domain’s mercantile center. Her existence could cause an apocalypse but Lantern Jack would later correct the problem by sending her back to hell.
-At Doc Scott's Mansion Ben explores and watches Avengers: Age of Ultron.
-He eventually checks around and ends up calling out on the walkie-talkie. Caroline answers and Ben goes to scout her home. He sees her butler and sees her sitting in the library before heading back.
-When he returns he finds Vincent sitting by the bar and as they decide to head out and scout Caroline's home, she calls on the radio about something coming down the road.
-It was a bright Sunday evening and the party had gotten well rested when a horde approached via the main road. Just at the secondary road that lead to the road into Bayview proper, stood the Necromancer and several Battle Brutes. He had pulled them from the Cosmic Coil as was written in the teachings he received, transcribed from the Necronomicon. His plan was to confront Doc Scott and his protectors, so he brought with him a group of twelve hostages and he had six battle brutes execute all but three of them by hand. Holding the last three hostages, he stood and waited for Doc Scott to show.
-In his hand the Necromancer held a magical chain that could restrained a demon, though it wasn't on her. He readied to command it to fight for him upon the loss of his battle brutes. The chain allowed him to dominate the will of anyone within it, they can refuse commands verbally and speak freely but cannot move.
-Vincent and Ben see several civilians get killed on the road and go running to help. They find Necromancer and several armored Battle Brutes that killed nine civilians. Ben saves the three hostages and Vincent runs them along as they take on the Brutes in a long and tough fight.
-Necromancer is teleported into the air by Noam when he fails to answer her questions correctly on why he killed all the civilians, "to call out the Doctor." He uses a returning rod to return to his abandoned church sanctuary in The Fens.
-Still fighting the Brutes, Freedom Society arrives to help and Noam makes a step toward Vincent out of curiosity. In her step, Vincent guns her down and Chris punches her out. Eventually the battle is resolved by slaying the Brutes but soon they'd regenerate. In the heat of the moment, the demon girl no one knew the name of twitched and Vincent sent a bullet through her brain but she too would regenerate.
-Ben and Vincent decide to leave the clean up to Cliona and her supposed police friend who will call the FBI, Ben worries the bodies wont be returned to their families.
-Ben, Vincent, Caroline, Chris, and Dan all load up into a car headed toward the abandoned church in The Fens whilst Cliona secured the scene.
-Dan and his FBI contacts arrive very swiftly, already in the city and arrest living Acolytes with some interest in this Necromancer. They rescue the other individuals and tell them that they were saved by the Freedom Society, a group of masked adventurers against armored killers who are in police custody and feed that story to the press later.
-On the road out of town, the Battle Brutes would bust out of their train car and escape into the forest to fight one another for some length of time.
-Noam is pulled to hell by her betters (Lantern Jack), leaving a lifeless corpse to be buried on this plane. The FBI higher ups decide to bury it at sea discretely.
-The team arrive to an empty church but before going in, they have a magically aware gentleman watch them. He had tracked the location based on the magical presence alone. They try to decide on the future of hero-kind standing there in conversation. The conversation is provoked by Chris Danger. Then, Vincent offered to watch around the back. Caroline, Dan, Chris, and Ben proceed in when Oswald speaks and introduces himself.
-Some suspicion is throw by Ben to Oswald for being German.
-They tie up Necromancer after they talk about his plan to have the dead do all the labor to create a perfect society. Ben said, "the ends don't justify the means."
-The phone call from Dan said the Freedom Society, in connection with what's happening in the south, had the Necromancer. Agent Johnson arrived and told Oswald to call the police and ask for him and tell them its about a bug problem.
-Doc is left an address for Oswald's house on his bar by Oswald.
