An Adventure Begins in Áthulus

Life, Milestone

As Áthulus settled from the news of a hanging, so to did some adventurers within it's borders.

Arvin Wainwright brought his cart into town and set up in the public commons, the South Commons, hoping to only do so until he could establish relations. His true intent was to establish a network so that he can fill both an economic and power vacuum in the area. He knew he'd need help to do it but as his opinion of the local Chamberlain soured throughout the day he wondered what all it would take.   The blacksmith's daughter, who's only ever wanted to contact her race which her father had told her was nearby, began worry of her father who hadn't returned the night previous, having not wondered out that day she'd missed the local gossip. What Kelaryn Stonehammer didn't know was while she'd spent her whole life dreaming of traveling through the barbaric lands with tough soldiers at her side to meet her people, she be required to muster her own bravery to save her father and stop a terrible threat.   Late in the evening a knight passes down the road through Âthulus. Sitting by a tree in front of her home, the young Sindarin girl gazed over the fields toward the road through town. The sun was all but gone when her eyes caught the gaze of a wainwright at the fence of the South Commons. The South Commons tucked up against the road that the wainwright had traveled in on days earlier. He'd parked there for work, intent on making his mark. As their lock broke, both the Sindarin girl and the wainwright looked further up the road toward the clattering of hooves. The silhouette of a knight could be seen riding in through the dark of night. As he and his band carried closer, his splendor became apparent.   The knight didn't bear the banner of the lord, instead he carried a crest from far afield. His lance bore his colors: red, yellow, and blue and the banners carried behind him did too. Set upon those banners were his crest and upon his shield the very same crest. As the knight intersected the two onlookers, he slowed for only a moment and raised a hand in greeting to the wainwright, as the girl looked on. As he and his lance passed through town, nearing its end, he nodded once more to a foreigner as he passed on from Âthulus to Varim or the Gibbet Inn.
