Wizard

Wizards are masters of arcane magic, spending years studying how mana works and the best ways to manipulate it. A wizard has access to a truly staggering number of spells, as very few are beyond their grasp. Their dedication to arcana means they often don't have time for other pursuits, and so most wizards bring little beyond their array of spells, though to learn arcane magic requires a keen intellect.   Because of how dangerous a rogue or reckless wizard can be, arcane magic is heavily policed. The League of Arcanists is the premier organization on Earth when it comes to magic policing, and as their name implies, they are primarily concerned with the arcane. Those who would learn to use arcane magic must be schooled via one of their academies, and those who would learn magic from other sources are ruthlessly pursued by their mage-hunters, the Falconers. Those with psychic potential are barred from studying the arcane, for fear of them dabbling into forbidden magic.

School Relations

Specialist wizards focus their study on a single school of magic, and as a result, are extremely skilled with spells from that school. They are also quite adept with its "sister" schools, as well. However, these specialists lose the ability to cast spells from their opposition school and struggle with the opposing schools of their sisters, typically called "rival" schools. People with an arcane bloodline may choose any two schools as their sisters, any other two as their rivals, and one more as their opposed school, but ultimately still gain and lose just as many.
