Zealots

Zealots develop a brain tumor that impacts their memory and cognitive abilities.
As a result, they can be programmed to enter a focus mode for a span of 9 minutes, during which they will perform a given task undistracted, and they will not stop until they have fulfilled it. The activation command can be a vocal or visual signal, triggered by a specific person. When those 9 minutes pass, they enter a semiconscious state for 1 minute, after which they can be activated again.   The more a Zealot is activated, the more the tumor in their brain grows, eventually killing them.
For obvious reasons, Zealots are found in the ranks of the gangs and Syndicates but also as Church of Ra and Divine Light followers. They are regarded as valuable assets and they are activated only on special occasions. They are usually ordered to enter a berserk mode in brawls and other situations where brute force is required.   Less frequently, their focus mode is activated in order to achieve a more analytical task, like breaking a code, or for tactical breakdown of a given scenario. These cases are rare, as they require that the Zealot has been trained in such matters.   Cases of Zealots training and learning to activate themselves, while remaining uncontrolled by all those who want to exploit their abilities, have been recorded. Still, these are few, as most Zealots have an inherent tendency to belong to a group.
