Last Winds

Last Winds was a subterranean elven village in Priador. Its patron deities were Labelas Enoreth and Sehanine Moonbow.   Sometime between 1323 and 1328 DR, it was attacked by drow, who wiped out all but one of the inhabitants. The sole survivor, Nelena, survived by making a deal with a devil to wipe out the drow in turn. As a result, Nelena was cursed to become a Medusa.

Visits by the adventuring party

1333 DR

"[T]hirty or thirty-five years" before 1358 DR, Bell and Sehanine had lost the ability to see into Last Winds. In 1358, at Sehanine's urging, Bell assigned the party to investigate Last Winds' fate and sent them back to 1333.   Bastion, strongly suspecting that Last Winds must be the village in whose ruins she grew up, led the party to Nelena's cave. Inside they found the village significantly more intact than Bastion's recollection, its aura of vitality and controlled climate considerably more extensive. An elaborate temple and statues to Labelas Enoreth and Sehanine Moonbow all still stood intact. Although the village appeared deserted, the statues spoke and admitted the party to Last Winds.   Within the temple, the party met Nelena and explained their mission. On the strength of the knowledge Bastion displayed, Nelena refrained from attacking the party and showed them the fate of the drow who had attacked: she had turned them to stone and heaped their petrified corpses up in one of the remaining houses.   As Nelena was telling her story, a party of Red Wizards appeared in the town and attacked. Their arrival caused the statue of Labelas Enoreth to explode and every other statue in the village, including those created by Nelena, to scream. In the ensuing battle, one Red Wizard sacrificed himself to demolish the temple in a storm of meteors; a second escaped; and a third was crushed to death when the statue of Sehanine Moonbow, screaming and seemingly agonized or mad, stumbled into the house where the last living Red Wizard had taken shelter. The effect that caused Sehanine's statue to leave its plinth was triggered when Nelena came into line of sight with the Red Wizards' Circle leader. Nelena lost consciousness in the same moment.   When the battle ended, Lexi heard an infant crying from the ruins of the house Sehanine's statue had destroyed. Upon hearing it herself, Bastion suffered significant psychic damage and a debilitating headache. In the rubble, the party found an injured halfling infant, whom Taglar was able to heal. It appeared that the crushed Red Wizard had been carrying this child. The wizard herself was a human woman with some physical resemblance to Bastion, whose biological mother she may have been. Nelena discovered that two items had been stolen by the wizard who escaped: a Gravewatch Pendantand a Sling of the Healer. She seemed surprised that the Red Wizard had only taken one of each: Nelena had previously received two pairs of these items directly from Sehanine, who told her that they would forever mark her as one of Sehanine's high priestesses. Nelena gave the remaining pair to the party. Currently, the pendant is with Alison, and the sling is with Meleth.
