Diggaw
Diggaw are a species of subterranean beings who make the northern areas of Meteor Planet their home. They are extremely communal but otherwise relatively primitive in their development. Still, they are generally amicable and have enjoyed a mostly peaceful coexistence with the other coexisting sapient species of their homeworld, the Meteorian.
Basic Information
Anatomy
They have a soft flexible skeleton that allows them to squeeze through spaces that are smaller than their body. Their and hands are fashioned with very long shovel-like claws able to rake large amounts of soil around them. These claws are attached to two very powerful arms that can move and claw their way through soil at very quick speeds. In contrast their legs are fairly feeble and are only just barely able to let them walk on land.
Genetics and Reproduction
Another very unique aspect to Diggaw in contrast to other species of Dimension X is their monogendered nature. Diggaw have no sexual reproduction organs whatsoever and create new ones asexually. A supreme member of a colony will make new Diggaw every so often through budding. The rate and amount vary depending on colony.
Growth Rate & Stages
Diggaw freshly budded from a Supreme are smaller than a developed Diggaw, but otherwise within a few minutes of being budded a new Diggaw can dig and walk with surprising dexterity. Over about a month the Diggaw will become fully developed nestling into their colony role, growing slightly larger, and able to talk and communicate with other species. After around 7 years most Diggaw are of Ancient age by their species standards and will pass away of natural causes by year 8.
Ecology and Habitats
They prefer dry environments and need very little water to survive. Low light conditions are preferable
Dietary Needs and Habits
The diet of Diggaw is almost entirely carnivorous, those in the hunting troops will swarm out for prey to hunt and bring back to the colony. The scant plant life that exists on Meteor Planet is occasionally brought back from scavenging troops and put into the undergardens for fermenting and consumption later.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Diggaw have very peculiar sense of sight, seeing only in monochrome. They can however see in very low light conditions but beyond a certain level of brightness, it can be painful to them. As such, most will only surface and do business in the night or in the low light times of the day. In contrast, their large radar like ears are very sensitive and can sense vibrations through the soil, this is compounded by their fine fur that assist in detecting these vibrations.
