Runed

A state where one has a permanent tattoo of a fairy rune upon their body. One who has been Runed will be forevermore, unless the part of the body that contains the rune is removed. When the rune runs out of magic to feed upon, it simply takes it from its host.

Causes

A fairy tattoos the afflicted's body, shaping a fairy rune and putting magic inside of it.

History

The first recorded case of a Runed person was, in fact, related to the Church of the True God. Halwen made a practice of tattooing two lines upon the faces of every person in the cult, and any who were born into that life were tattooed seven days after their birth. In hindsight, it is certain that fairies knew how to Rune people before the manuscripts of the old time were burned by the Sicatrin Empire.

Cultural Reception

Those who are obviously Runed, especially with obvious ones like the Exploit rune, are regarded with suspicion and paranoia.
