Hvrea

A town build upon the existance of a single resource, no wonder it is a political hotspot.
— A Ven'Irs comment about the town

Industry & Trade

The vast majority of the towns income comes from the harvesting and processsing of Domestic Metalspinner silk. Over three quarters of silk products comes from this one town.

This homogenious, specialised purpose has made Hvrea worryingly unstable to shocks in its supply line, as happened when the lake town of Kilini was decimated by an unexpected storm a few years back. This event basically shut down the food production needed to sustain Hvrea. Only thanks to significant effort by all parties with interests in Hvrea did it survive. Since then efforts have been made to diversify its production, particularely when it comes to basic necessities.

Guilds and Factions

Hvrea is a hotspot for various factions, each with their slightly different agenda that demands some form of control.

Ven'Ir

The Ven'Ir are, as everywhere else, those who govern the town, acting as lawmakers and judges.

History

For a long time there was only a village acting as a place to rest in the junction between the north-west, west and north-east of the desert. It became a junction thanks to the water spring there.

It then grew larger when Metalspinners started being domesticated, with production slowly concentrating in Hvrea. Due to an inability to grow the food the insects needed the production was limited, but widely recognised as important.

When one of the farmers realised that the insects could also be fed with dried fungus from the Halalan mountains they tried setting up manufacturing there, but it was too cold. Instead the industry stayed in place and began importing the fungus from the mountains.
