Seoul National University Surrogate Trial Program
The Seoul National University Surrogate Trial Program was a medial trial series conducted by Dr. Park of Seoul National University. It aimed to explore whether the Majella Phenomenon could be circumvented by removing the embryos from the womb of their mothers around the time that the rejection occured, only to re-transplant them later.
The trial was a disasterous failure, leading to miscarriages and stillbirths in all causes and further complications related to the pregnancy in some of the women involved, two of which passed away as a result. Dr. Park lost his job as a result of the incident, when the University found him guilty of negligence. Though no criminal charges were pushed, he ended his career disgraced.
