Fairy

There is magic and terror in the unassuming, as it falls giggling over my desk. As it looks at me out of big sparkling eyes and tells me to get ready for death.

It seems the Elven hands have found me after all, and i will die dowsed in glitter.
Faries are small creatures that have a Milena old bond with the Elves of this world. Usually living as companions and servants to them for their whole life times, seeing it as an outstanding honor to have serviced to a great master in their time.
This agreement has been born out of their small size and weakness, as the elves protect them in turn and respect them greatly for their service.
A service that is in their hands to choose, as they choose the one they want to serve and enter a symbiotic relationship with, and to ever force a Farie into one would be counted as a severe crime.   As such, most Fairies can be found in x, these days, primarily serving the high elves, as they thrive in the intense magical environment the Elves have created there, and occasionally with some of the other Elves, or, in extremely rare cases, other species all together. Though these are very big outliers.

Appearance

Fairies really come in all shapes, sizes and colors. With every hair, eye and skin color imaginable, including purple polka-dots or shimmering and multicolored. They also all have kind of unique traits like: Insect legs, an animal head, a unicorn horn, glittering mist or the smell of fresh brownies around them. The only thing they all have in common is that they have wings, which culturally are the most important part for them. They usually resemble the wings of an insect or a bird, though the color of them can wildly vary from that.
To show them off, they often decorate them with paint, light jewelry and magic effects.

Racial abilities

Ability Score Increase. Increase one ability score by 2, and increase a different one by 1.   Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet.   Fairy Flight. You have a flying speed equal to your walking speed and can hover. This flight is magical and does not require the use of your wings (if you have them).   Fairy Magic. You know the druidcraft cantrip.
Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the faerie fire spell with this trait. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the enlarge/reduce spell with this trait. Once you cast faerie fire or enlarge/reduce with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.
Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).   Fey Passage. You can squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide.   Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character.

DM Advice

When creating a Fairy character, the most important component to play with is their desire to form service bonds. Think about what kind of person they would be drawn to for this. Someone with wealth and status? Wit? Prowess? Or specific morals and goals?
Do they already have a bond? If yes, this would be a great opportunity to build a preexisting connection with another player and have a bind with them. If not, your Fairy could still be young and the search for the right person to bond with could become a central motivation for them.
