Book 1: Souragne Session 7

Chapter 7: The Mists Rise

General Summary

The group explores the rest of the crypts beneath the old cemetery. Before facing the undead Flora Tarascon, they defeated a group of zombies and skeletons, explored the entirety of the crypt, and acquired some gems and a pendant from the long ago deceased. After grabbing the staff laid out upon Luc Tarascon's sarcophagi, a ghost of the deceased appeared above the tomb. He indicated that his twin brother, Jean Tarascon, had killed him a long time ago and he wished for his family to pay for their crimes - the crime of his murder and the crime of covering it up to avoid local authorities. After some rather dubious attempts at convincing the ghost that they were attempting to seek justice for the town, he offered his staff to them to assist in their quest.   They also came across a emancipated corpse wearing what was likely once fancy noble attire with a stake protruding from their chest. Kass recognized that this may be a vampire and after a bit of discussion Sempronia informed them that if it is the same "Gundar" she knows about, then he was a former ruler of a realm and a vicious vampire. The group decided to leave the corpse or vampire be.   They then faced Flora. It was a hard battle with the Zombie Lord, but as she fell, the zombies she was controlling fell as well. A number of effigies made of twig and red twine were found on her person, but nothing else of value. The group then went back to town and received a hero's welcome after explaining to Carlos and Priest Armond what they discovered.   A day after they believed the town to be safe from the undead, a thick Mists surrounded them and the humid heat of Souragne rapidly began to fall as they found themselves being transported, yet again, by the mysterious Mists that brought them to this strange place to begin with.
