The Carnival

The Carnival   It is said that the Carnival can appear in any Domain of Dread at the whims of its Mistress. The Carnival comes and goes at random, though never stays for long. Some believe the Carnival picks up strays as it travels, taking in those that feel as if they do not belong in their own lands or are considered outcasts by their own people. For these outcasts, the Carnival is a safe haven. For visitors, the Carnival is a curiosity. A way for the common folk to view the strange and terrifying behind a curtain of safety. For the things of your nightmares are not as scary when viewed behind a barred cage or as a form of entertainment.    No one knows for sure what Domains the Carnival will visit and for what purpose, but a few days before it the brightly color wagons arrive through the Mists, flyers magically appear in nearby villages, homesteads, and along forest paths. These flyers promise strange, horrific, and wondrous shows for all ages. Locals feel the need to attend, their curiosity and perhaps something unnamed urging them to do so.    When the Carnival arrives, it arrives in style. The brightly colored wagons forming out of the Mists and parading through the nearest settlement before setting up their black and white stripped tents in the nearest, continent clearly. The wagons encircle the Carnival grounds, making a perfect 600-foot diameter circle in which the many shows can be viewed for a small few.

The Fey Market

Following in the Carnival's wake is the Fey Market. Not entirely part of the Carnival, the Fey Market latches on to those seeking curiosities and their wares range from simple trinkets to mysterious goblin fruit and bottled dreams. The Fey deal in coin, but prefer to deal in trade. They always trade in "fair value". This value, of course, changes based on the customer. If one is starving and food and drink would save them from certain death, then fair value is quite different for one who is simply seeking the consumption of a delicacy for the pleasure of it.   The Fey selling wares at the Fey Market changes from time to time, but the following sections address those that are almost always present:

Stitch by Stitch

Stitch by Stitch has lines of clothing hanging from wooden hangers, dancing in the breeze. A sign propped up by the booth reads “Stitch by Stitch: Magical Clothing for Everyone” in common and Elvish.   The booth is run by two Eladrin, Eve and Dawn. Eve has short, curly fiery red hair, skin like bark, bright yellow eyes and a quiet demeanor. Dawn has long, wavy blond hair, a spring green skin, and sky blue eyes. She is very friendly and is more likely the one of the two to show off their wares.   Clothing includes shirts, pants, cloaks, jackets, skirts, and all matters of hats. The clothing style is very unique, ranging from the noble looks of Darkon to the peasant looks of Lamordia . However, the most unique clothing appear to be plain black tunics, but once adorned the wearer can change its appearance with a single thought to suit their needs. The Eladrin claim these garments are quite popular among those that travel the Mists as it allows them to blend in in any land they may find themselves in.

Gothic Trinkets

Zibs, a 2-foot tall, wiry fellow with dark green skin and elongated arms who wears a bright blue newsboy hat and rainbow suspenders holding up his oversized pants over a bare chest runs the Trinkets booth. These trinkets are very peculiar and its a wonder that he manages to sell or trade any of them. One such trinket is an old children's drawings of impossible things. Another is a pipe that appears made out of bone and expels smoke in the shape of laughing skulls.

Fairy Lights

A very cheerful pixie named Glasella runs Fairy Lights, which sells glowing lanterns, globes and sparklers of all types. These range from mundane to magical. With Glasella is a horse-sized wolf with white fur who is known to occasionally speak to customers, but spends most of his time growling warnings at would-be thieves.

Goblin Fruit

The Goblin Fruit booth is the largest in the Fey Market. The booth is run by the twin shadow elves, Ember and Ash. They sell and trade goblin fruit for high prices as it is the most sought out item for the fey. Common fruits include the Howler, The Lord's Curse, Comprehension, and Translucence. Each is said to taste different for each individual, but always delicious. These fruits also provide some benefit to the consumer.

Bottled Dreams

Bottled Dreams is run by three elderly woman named Lena, Lula, and Effie. They offer free samples to potential customers and mostly trade in memories, dreams or service instead of coin. The women claim that each bottle contains a dream or memory that lets the drinker experience a particular emotion tied to the event as if they lived it themselves.

Fresh Happiness

Fresh Happiness is filled with potted plants hanging from above and in pots upon the ground and lining tiered shelves. Zaelya, a young, beautiful woman with long green hair and a green tinge to her skin wearing clothing made of bark and leaves runs the booth and is assisted by Sky, a small twig like creature with eyes as dark as a midnight sky.

Dispel that Spell

The Magic Shop is run by two gnomes, Cal and Zayne. They sell spell components for their listed price, including hard to find ones. They also sell finely crafted scroll cases, spell component pouches, quills, and the required ink and parchment to copy new spells into a mages spellbook.
