The Canopy Of Natures Repose
"The Canopy Of Natures Repose"
The Canopy Of Natures Repose, now serves as meeting place and place of worship for the druids of The Keepers Of Natures Circle. Constructed in their ancestral home of the Immanis Forest and protected by the powers of the holy artifact, they are free to continue their saga against natures enemies as they see them. The druids view any disruption of nature as the most heinous of crimes. This includes raising people from the dead, instilling undeath on corpses, and even the healing of the injured or dying. As each of these interferes with natures course and design, they are often sought out and set back on natures path, which usually means death for the person targeted. As a result of their beliefs, many enemies have been created, and due to the holy artifacts power, many factions have tried to acquire it, each claiming that it rightfully belongs to them.
Weekly ceremonies are preformed here, in which they begin by circling outside of the shrine, disrobing, submerging in the pools cleansing themselves, then drying by the braziers, before entering the dome, where they meditate and receive guidance from the head priest.
Purpose / Function
The purpose of this area is to protect and house The Radiant Orb Of Holy Flames , said to be the head piece of the staff of Luken, God Of The Sun And Light. Many lay claim to the holy artifact, but the Druids known as The Keepers Of Natures Circle steadfastly refuse to part with it and will die and kill to defend it.
Sensory & Appearance
Upon entering the shrine, visitors feel a sense of warm comfort and the air is filled with the pleasant scents of wildflowers. Time seems to slow down and worrisome cares are diminished and eventually drift away. The only source of light inside is at the very center of the shrine.
Denizens
The only people allowed here are the druids of The Keepers Of Natures Circle. All trespassers will be chased out or killed on site.
Contents & Furnishings
The inside of the shrine is completely empty, except for at its very center, where all of the star points originate, is a four foot tall carved pedestal of rose quartz, that gives off a soft glow. Upon this pedestal rests The Radiant Orb Of Holy Flames.
Architecture
The shrine known as The Canopy Of Natures Repose, is located deep in the Immanis Forest. It is a very simple and organic, open aired clearing. The floor is composed of black and white, speckled diorite stone, laid out in the form of an eight pointed star. Each tapering point aligns perfectly to the eight compass directions. On either side of each tip of the star is an enormous ash tree. As each ash tree rises, the branches interweave with its neighbors branches, forming an archway entrance over the star points and further bend to the center of the shrine, forming a natural branch and leaf dome. About 22 feet away from each of the north, south, east, and west star point is a small pool about 10 feet in diameter. At the northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast star point is a small lit brazier, also 22 feet away from the star. A flagstone path of slate leads from each pool to brazier to pool, forming a circle around the outside of the shrine.
History
This shrine was constructed back when the Immanis Forest was still young. After taking possession of The Radiant Orb Of Holy Flames, the druids brought it here after the Skeleton War was over. They noticed that the plants near the holy artifact were growing much faster and stronger than the others. The head priest ordered that a shrine be built in the center of the woods to house the orb. After the base was created and the trees transplanted, the head priest through some unknown mystical means, funneled the holy artifacts power into the very forest itself. The nearby trees quickly grew into the doming structure surrounding the orb and the forest also grew larger and faster than normal. Over the years, several attempts by many factions have tried to acquire The Radiant Orb Of Holy Flames, but none have been successful so far.
